Genetic Alliance is one of the world's leading nonprofit health advocacy organizations. We engage individuals, families, and communities to transform health. Trying to find information and interventions for disease, searching for health information, and/or finding suitable opportunities to participate in research are difficult. We create ways to make it easier to find or build solutions in health services and research.
Genetic Alliance's network includes more than 1,200 disease-specific advocacy organizations, as well as thousands of universities, private companies, government agencies, and public policy organizations. Since 1986, Genetic Alliance has defined the intersection of health and genetics. Originally founded as an alliance for support groups, our work has evolved along with the growing health advocacy movement and the rapid advancement of genetic technology. While our roots are in genetics, we recognize that meaningful solutions that improve health must be cut across disciplines, databases, diagnoses, size and geography. To that end, we apply solutions in health and disease, discovery, practice and prevention, on both a local and global level. Through our broad and diverse partnerships, we have created a dynamic network that serves as an open space for sharing valuable resources, creative tools, and innovative programs.

Genetic Alliance, a health advocacy nonprofit, manages and operates the Platform for Engaging Everyone Responsibly (PEER). Our mission, which is much broader than our historical genetics mission, specifically includes creating ways for individuals, families, and communities to transform health. PEER is one of the ways we do this. Our work is overseen by a Council and an Ethics Team. PEER is subject to annual IRB approval, as is every project using the platform.
